9 Ways To Increase The Value Of Your Home On The Cheap

Whether you are trying to sell your home, bought a new one, or just trying to give your home a facelift, finding ways to make your home more appealing when you are on a budget can be difficult.

So we have listed below 9 ways you can increase the value of your home while making it more liveable.

1. Yard Work

Time to go outside and get rid of any debris, rubbish, and old toys and tools. Start up the mower and cut that grass, trim the edges and make sure you do this regularly (weekly in summer). Get a little dirty and uproot those weeds, trim the hedges and turn over that soil in your garden bed. And if you are feeling adventurous, you can even create a vegie garden.

2. Lose The Clutter

Clutter inside your home can make it look messy and unkempt. Throw out, give away or sell your old stuff. Clean out those cupboards and get rid of all that stuff you haven’t used for 12 months. You will be amazed at how organised and neat your home looks after getting rid of some unused stuff!

3. Clean Your Carpets

Can’t justify getting new carpets just yet? Never mind, just getting your carpets professionally steam cleaned can do wonders.

4. New Fittings

Instead of redecorating your whole house, just focus on the small things. Buying new fittings like light switches, taps, door handles and light shades can really change the look and feel of your home. Use websites like eBay to save money on these and focus on one room at a time.

5. A Lick Of Paint

Give your interior walls a new coat of paint and see how much it changes the look and feel of your home. But make sure you patch up any cracks or holes and wash the walls down first. Again, you can focus on one room at a time.

6. Update Your Kitchen Appliances

A couple of choice appliances in the kitchen can change the look of a kitchen, especially if combined with number 4, above. Again, websites like eBay can be a gold mine for affordable appliances.

7. Get Watered

Think about adding in an irrigation system in your garden. This may sound like a lot of work, but it will be a great feature and allows you to spend less time looking after the garden and more time relaxing!

8. Smells

Put out fresh flowers or buy some potpourri to lightly add fresh aromors to your home. Also, if you bake or cook, food flavours drifting throughout the house does wonders.

9. Bedding

Look at buying some new quality bedding to sprouse up the main bedroom or spare room. This can easily make the room much more appealing.

Now it’s over to you – what else can you do to make your home more valuable and nicer to live in?
