Give Up A Vice for the Month

We all have them. And they usually cost us money.

I am talking about vices.

They creep their way into your life without you really being able to remember when you started it, and now you “can’t live without it.” You need your morning coffee. You need you mid-morning cigarette. And you totally need that drink on Friday afternoon.

You Can Give It Up

But ask yourself – will life really end if you give it up for a month?

Think of it as a personal challenge. One that will save you money.

Think of one vice you have that costs you money and decide to give it up for the rest of the month. It’s as simple as that.

An Example

The amount of money you save from this tip will vary obviously, but let’s take a common one – giving up that morning coffee.

I am sure the barista will miss you (and your money) but it is better in your pocket.

An average coffee these days is around $3.50 and if you are buying one every morning on your way to work or after dropping the kids off to school then you are shelling out $17.50 per week or a massive $70 per month! Just from coffee.

And it’s not like you need to give it up altogether – simply make one for yourself at home before you head out, or when you get home again. Sure, it won’t be all fancy, but it will be much much cheaper. And it’s only for the month of September.

Breaking The Habit

Who knows, after a month of doing with out, you may find that you really don’t need it after all.

What is the vice you have that you could give up?
